outline
This installation was created for "Re:search" exhibition at sendai mediatheque completely new.
This piece emphasizes the vector that extends horizontal contrasted with vertical vector in "GLOBAL BEARING".
I recorded Sendai City by GPS, DV camera with fisheye lens on the roof and 2 mikes to each side of direction of movement of car.
In the installation, these logs are processed by original program and reconstructed with complete synchronization.
In particular, by a projection to roof and surround-sound with 7 speakers which circularly-arranged and 1 speaker on the roof.
The projection and sound source turn round following the direction of movement. And current lat/long is announced at fixed intervals at top speaker.
On the roof, The relative directions of landmarks are displayed in real time.
The implication of this artwork is that the process of measuring position of our body by lat/long is ,in a real sense, to map the real world to virtual grid that called lat/long.
